Female Hormone Profile w/ Estrone (Saliva)

The BHL209 is used to establish baseline levels of hormones in the post-menopausal woman; hormone levels on a particular day of the menstrual cycle in pre-menopausal women; and to monitor the efficacy of adjunctive hormone therapies.

When administering any bio-identical hormone, it is important to test to see whether the hormone is having the desired effect in the body (in part because exogenous hormones can be converted in the body to other hormones). Unwittingly, an estrogen dominance problem may be exacerbated with testosterone supplementation.

When a patient is on bio-identical hormones, her hormone levels should be rechecked using this test to be sure that her testosterone levels have risen as planned. In such cases where adjunctive therapy is not improving testosterone levels, bio-identical testosterone should be given with an aromatase inhibitor to block
conversion to estrogens.
