Apis Mellifica treats the symptoms of bee stings and conditions which show signs similar to that of a bee sting—stiff, stinging pain, redness around the affected area, fluid retention, and swelling. The symptoms improve with cold applications and when left uncovered, but worsen when the affected area becomes too warm or is touched. This polychrest should be kept as part of a First Aid kit to reduce the likelihood and severity of allergic skin reactions to bee and wasp stings and food allergies.
Use Apis Mellifica to treat inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes, especially when the inflammation is accompanied by a serous discharge. Swelling, pain, and redness can also be felt in the eyes, the tonsils, throat, ears, or the urinary tract.
Native Americans used the honeybee as a medicinal cure and are said to have introduced this remedy to homeopathic practitioners in the mid-19thcentury.
